The angels sang on June 13, 2019 when one of their own came home. Amadita Flores, surrounded by her devoted family, passed peacefully. Amadita was born April 30, 1927 in Dallas Texas to Jose and Concepcion Flores. Amadita was a lady of great faith. Her Lord, her family and loved ones, and her church were what she valued above all else. Amadita taught her children to work hard and sit still in church. Her house was always a home where family and friends would gather. She had the gift of hospitality and everyone was well fed. Everyone loved “Mom” or “Grandma” and many people just adopted her as their own even if they were just friends of her kids or grandkids or they just met her somewhere. Her warmth enveloped everyone she was around. Grandma was the world’s best babysitter and always had her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren at her home. Grandma was known for her tamales. She made special ones with just the right amount of heat for the special people in her life. Amadita loved to dance and always attended the family weddings, Quinceañeras, birthday parties and other events where she would dance the night away. Amadita also enjoyed working in her yard. She had a green thumb and loved growing ivies, roses and many other flowers. She liked watching the great old shows like I Love Lucy, Red Skelton, Andy Griffith, Matlock, Shirley Temple, John Wayne and La Ley del Monte.
Amadita joins in heaven her parents; her brothers, Toribio, Domingo and Jose Flores; her beloved sons, Jesse and John Alvarado and beloved daughter, Irene Morales. She leaves behind her daughters and sons-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Leo Garcia and Mr. and Mrs. Victor Vega; sons Pete Morales, Felix Alvarado, Frank Morales and Manuel Morales; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings Janie Hernandez, Anastacia Escalona, Frances Martinez, and Eugene Flores.
