Elizabeth Thomson Life Story

Betty Anne passed away peacefully on January 30, 2018. Cherished by her family and friends, she is now safely in the arms of her Lord and Savior. She was born in Pontiac, IL on July 19, 1927 to Mary Agnes and Joseph Charles Krippel. They later moved to Ft. Worth, TX where she attended school at Our Lady of Victory. Betty attended UT and TCU, married a handsome Aggie named Jack, and forevermore became an Aggie sweetheart. As Dad said in a poem he penned to her, she is “the one who will forever be my love”. They were married 65 years when Jack passed away in 2016.

Betty’s greatest wish was to be a mother and to raise her children well. She was fiercely protective and occasionally admonished coaches and teachers as she saw fit. Games, dominoes and bridge were a mainstay. Many evenings were spent outdoors playing with the Kings, Sawyers, Cobbs and “Buster” Blackburn in the safety of the cul-de-sac. Later a new pool became the place where family and friends loved to congregate. Her greatest gift to her children was instilling a deep and abiding faith for which we are so grateful. We will deeply miss our precious, loving mother.

Preceded in death by her husband Jack, son Christopher and 4 siblings-Joe, Mary, John & Bill. Survived by her beloved sister Margaret Leito and sister-in-law Peggy Krippel of Ft. Worth; sons John, Kevin (Sande’), Douglas (Marlene) and daughter Dianne (Hamlet) Newsom; “Gram” to 4 adored grandchildren: Whitney, Elijiah, Christopher & Katie Thomson and “Great Gram” to little Anaiah & Maximus. She was a loving aunt to many nieces and nephews and a cherished friend to many.

Our family is especially grateful for Mom’s special caregiver, Theo Nzenagau, and later-Annah, Noreen and Segun who all encouraged us in our faith. We also appreciate the kind care and concern from numerous staff members at Edgemere where she resided since 2001.
