Gloria Pena Diaz

January 8, 1950 ~ October 11, 2017 (age 67) 67 Years Old

Gloria Pena Diaz always “kept if real”.  On a cool day in Dallas, Texas , on January 8, 1950, Marcelino and Juanita Pena welcomed a bounce baby girl into this world.  She was a happy child with lots of brothers and sisters.  She had a stubborn streak and knew what she wanted.  She was a determined young lady so even though she married instead of completing high school, she went on to earn her GED.  The biggest joy in her life were the arrival of her four children, Gloria, Belinda, Jesus and DeAnna.  She loved being a mommy.  That joy was magnified when the grandkids started to arrive and she became a granny.  Joy abounded even further when the great grandkids started to arrive.  Gloria loved her family.  Surrounded by her family, Gloria left this earth on October 11, 2017 to join her parents and her sweet great granddaughter in heaven.   It was appropriate that Gloria went to glory on a Fall evening.  Fall was always her favorite time to year.

Gloria was honest and straight forward.  Her favorite sayings were “It is what it is” and “keep it real.”  Her family knew not to ask her opinion unless they were ready to hear exactly what she thought.  They did value her opinions --most of the time.  She loved all kinds of music and dancing.  Gloria was also an animal lover. Going to San Antonio with Jesus,DeAnna, and her grandchildren to the Riverwalk, Fiesta Texas and SeaWorld was always a favorite trip.  She also loved the annual Girl’s Night Out with shopping and dinner with her daughters and granddaughters.  Montgomery Ward at Big Town Mall was a popular hangout when the kids were growing up.   She was a true fan in good times and in bad of her Dallas Cowboys and Dallas Mavericks. Gloria enjoyed her "Netflix Nights" with DeAnna and her granddaughter Ariana. She also loved to watch her favorite show Supernatural. Anyone that knew Gloria, knew she was addicted to Coca-Cola.  She only liked coke in bottles or plastic although Jesus would tease her with nasty can coke at times.  To her last days she still wanted her coke.

Gloria leaves behind her devoted children, Gloria Peña and her husband Ernestor Peña, Jr. Belinda Diaz, Jesus Diaz and DeAnna Diaz; her beloved grandchildren, Ernestor Peña III, Ashley Luna and her husband Jose Luna, Nicholas Guajardo and his wife Alejandra Guajardo, Johnny Guajardo, Lauren Ruiz, Jesus Diaz III, Arthur Ruiz, Christina Diaz, Cesar Peña and Ariana Diaz; her great-grandchildren, Anthony Guajardo, Nicholas Guajardo  II, Jayden Luna and Jose Luna, Jr. and her siblings, Fidela Pina, Benita Carillo, Elvira Graham, Delores Rodriquez, Mary Chavez-Pinkerton, Juanita “Jane”  Liscano, Tony Pena and Marcelino Pena.   Gloria joins in heaven her parents Marcelino and Juanita Pena, great granddaughter, Aubrey Guajardo, siblings, Jesse Pena, Joseph Pena and Margarita Caudillo.

Gloria will truly be missed for her stubborn tenacity and straightforward opinions but mainly for her big heart.

We know you will “Keep it real” Granny until we meet again.
