Chester Hollingsworth, 102, of Dallas, Texas passed away February 16, 2020. Born in Greenville, Texas, in 1917, he came to Dallas at age 21 to work. He joined the Navy the day after Pearl Harbor was bombed and served in the Pacific. While stationed in California, he met and married Catherine Davis. After an honorable release in 1945, he brought his bride back to Dallas, where the couple settled and raised their family. After their children were grown, he and Catherine served 18 months in Adelaide, Australia as missionaries. They were married for 69 years before Catherine preceded him in death in 2011.
Chester spent his career in floor coverings, starting with Vickery & Co and then with S&H Floors, both in Dallas.
He loved people and could make a friend standing in the line at the grocery store. Generous, kind, and hard-working, he set a good example to all he met.
Chester is survived by his four children: sons, Craig, Chris, Collin; and daughter, Caren. Services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 14740 Meandering Way, Dallas, Texas 75248 on Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at 11 AM.
