Dattatraya Vithoba Kamat, also known as Dan or Devidas Kamat, passed away on November 22, 2023, at the age of 85 in Dallas, Texas. Born on January 20, 1938, in Mumbai, India, he was the son of Vithoba and Sushila Kamat.

Dan, a loving father, brother, and grandfather, is survived by his sons Sanjay Kamat (Lisa) and Tej Kamat (Pam), his brothers Ravindra Kamat (Jeanne) and Harischandra Kamat; his sister, Usha Wagle (Sharad), his sister-in-law, Cindy Kamat, as well as his grandchildren Alexis Kamat, Deven Kamat, and Angelina Rybicki. Dan was a highly educated individual, obtaining a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Iowa State University. He worked in the textile and lamination field for many years in research and development, holding over 50 patents.

Dan loved playing all kinds of card and board games and he was especially fond of 304, bridge, carrom, and golf. He had a passion for art (discovered at the Senior Adult Activity Center of Montgomery County) and was known as a blooming artist, drawing inspiration from the works of Van Gogh. Additionally, he was a devoted fan of the Philadelphia Eagles football team.

Memorial services for Dan Kamat will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to be made to the American Diabetes Association, Montco SAAC, or to plant a tree in his memory.
