Elpidia Orta Life Story

Elpidia Jasso Orta, age 91, of Irving, passed away on August 5th, 2022 after a battle
with pancreatic cancer. Elpidia was born on March 5th, to Isidro Jasso Toro and Patrocinio Garcia Loyola in the hacienda of Santo Domingo, in the municipality of Santa
Maria del Rio, San Luis Potosí, Mexico. She was homeschooled by her aunt Socorro
while growing up at the hacienda. She helped her parents out with planting and harvesting of crops, feeding and milking the cows, and tending to livestock.
At age 20, Elpidia moved with her parents to the capital city of Sam, Luis Potosí to help take care of her father Isidro following a stroke. At the of 22, Elpidia left San Luis
Potosí to live and work in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas with her cousin Maria de la Luz, while balancing two jobs - waitressing and house keeping at the local church, she was a loving mother to her first son Jorge, born in 1956. In 1962, Elpidia and cousin Maria de la Luz moved to Dallas, TX to better their life for themselves and their families.
While working at the Seafood Supply Company in Dallas, Elpitia met her future husband Juan, they married on December 10, 1966 and formed a family with her son Jorge until second son Robert was born in 1971. Since then, Elpidia was a homemaker to both sons, until each finished high school. Then, it was back to the workforce, working together with husband Juan as a team, working as custodians at Ursuline Academy.
Juan passed away on October 29th, 1995.
In 1995, Elpidia retired and spent her time traveling with both sons, listening to music, watching novelas, attending concerts, sewing, crocheting, knitting, cross stitching, and
embroidering. She is preceded in death by: her Husband Juan Orta, sister Esperanza Jasso Diaz, Father Isidro Jasso Toro, Mother Patrocinio Garda Loyola.
Survived by: Son Jorge Jasso, Daughter-In-Law Starlett Pierce Jasso, Son Robert Orta, Daughter-In-Law Sandra De Jesus, Grandson Isidro Jasso, siblings Joaquin Jasso, Agustin Jasso, Guadalupe Jasso, Alicia Espinoza Jasso, Maria de Jesus Jasso, nieces, nephews, and many Godchildren.
A visitation for Elpidia will be held Tuesday, August 9, 2022 from 5pm to 8pm at Hughes Family Tribute Center, 9700 Webb Chapel Road, Dallas, TX. 75220. A mass of Christian burial will occur Wednesday, August 10, 2022 from 10am to 11am at San Juan Diego Catholic Church, 10919 Royal Haven Lane, Dallas, TX,75229. The comittal will occur Wednesday, August 10, 2022 from 11:30am - 12:30pm at Laurel Land Cemetery, 6300 S. RL Thornton Fwy, Dallas, TX 75232.
