Emily Jane Mills, a lifelong resident of Dallas passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, July 10 surrounded by her family. Emily was born on October 10, 1924 and was predeceased by her parents, Jacob Woodley Boles of Greenville, TX, and Katherine Evantha Scurry Boles of Dallas, TX.
Emily attended the Hockaday School and graduated from Highland Park High School. She went on to attend The University of Texas and SMU where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree. Emily belonged to the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority.
Emily spent the better part of her career in banking services having worked for Highland Park State Bank, Preston State Bank, Dallas Federal Savings & Loan, and Bank One (now Chase) where she retired in 1998.
Emily was an active member of Highland Park United Methodist Church and the John Wesley Sunday School Class. She was dedicated to serving the Lord and her church by volunteering for many years in the Prayer Tower, church library, and other volunteer activities.
She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca "Becky" Mills Luff and husband Dr. Scott Luff; bonus-granddaughters, Virginia Luff and husband Zach Herigodt of Austin, TX, and Michelle Peterson and husband Robert of Jarrell, TX; and great-grandchildren, McKenzie and Hunter; as well as countless wonderful cousins and treasured friends.
Graveside services will be held at Restland Cemetery, Garden of Serenity on Thursday, July 22, 2021 at 10:00am for family and friends, with Arville McClain officiating. A reception is to follow at the home of her daughter, and son-in-law.
The family would like to thank Comfort Hospice for their incredible care giving staff, especially Sonya, Chris and Sharla.
In lieu of flowers, contributions would be welcomed to the Highland Park Methodist Church, The Wilkinson Center of Dallas, or the charity of your choice.
