Geneva Gonzalez Life Story

Geneva Gonzalez, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on Friday, November 20, 2020 in Garland, Texas surrounded by her family. Her life was full of love and lessons which will be passed on as an enduring legacy to her family for generations and generations to come.

Geneva Gonzalez was born on Wednesday, May 16, 1951 to Leonardo Baron Alvarez and Vivian Samora in Amarillo, Texas. She was one of seven children, but she was special from the start! As she grew up, she matured into a caring, young woman and started a family of her own. She married her first husband, Eugene Garcia, and together they had three children, who added wonder to their lives. However, to the sorrow of Geneva and her children, Eugene Sr. passed away. She raised her children as a singe mother. After a time, Geneva’s life lead her to a wonderful man named Antonio Gonzalez at a dancing club called Club Met. The two fell in love and were married. They made the most of life and love as they spent time together, made memories together, and learned from each other. Geneva loved her family so dearly much! Her love only grew as her children became parents, and she became a Grandma. She doted on her grandchildren and was so proud when she became even a great-grandma. She had a big, golden heart that contained a special place for each member of her family.

Along with family, Geneva had many joys and passions in life. She enjoyed cooking delicious foods like her famous enchiladas, ceviche, gorditas, and seafood. After a meal or just whenever she felt like it, she indulged in a chocolate candy or her favorites, Almond Joys. Another thing in life she enjoyed was watching movies—especially scary movies—with her family. She almost always had a bowl of popcorn with her as she watched her movies. Along with movies, Geneva also liked listening to music. One of her favorite types of music was mariachi music. She enjoyed listening to Vicente Fernandez as well as Joe Bravo and Sunny and the Sunglows. Her favorite song was “It’s Okay” from Joe Bravo and the Sunglows. Similar to her love of music, Geneva also enjoyed dancing. After she met Antonio at Club Met, they went out dancing many more times. One of her favorite dances was the cumbia, and she was very good at it. Traveling to the beach was another passion for Geneva. She enjoyed traveling to Playa de Mexico with her family, and it was her wish to go back just one last time before she passed. Although there was much that Geneva wanted to do with her family, she knew that she loved them with all she had in her heart, mind, body, and soul. Her life and her love will never be forgotten by her loved ones.

Geneva Gonzalez is survived by her loving husband, Antonio Gonzalez; her beloved children, Eugene Garcia, Jr. and his wife, Connie, Brandy Almendarez and her husband, Miguel, and Erica Vasquez and her husband, Pete; her grandchildren, Eugene III, Christian, Michael, Miguel Jr., Crystal, Elizabeth, Michelle, Valentina, Daniela, Erica, Pete Jr., and Xavier; her great-grandchildren, Levi, Chole, Ava, and Jaylene; and her siblings, Tino Alvarez and his wife, Wanda, Frank Alvarez and his wife, Debbie, Danny Alvarez, Billy Rosas with his wife, Gloria, and Ricky Alvarez.
