Jimmy Rodriguez Herrera, 85, of Dallas, TX passed away on May 4, 2022 surrounded by family. He was born on February 8, 1937 to Amelia Rodriguez Herrera in Dallas, TX. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and an avid golfer!
Jimmy served in the United States Navy. He was a co-founder of Herrera's Cafe and in 1983 was the founder of Herrera's Oak Cliff. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, boxing, taking pictures, music, going to the movies, playing cards with family and had a new found hobby of trying recipes he found on YouTube. He loved his family, was always willing to lend a hand and welcomed everyone he met.
Jimmy is preceded in death by his mother Amelia Rodriguez Herrera; brothers Raymond R. Herrera and Mike Herrera; sister Mary Ontiveros; and daughter Roxanne Herrera. He is survived by his sister Rebecca Marquez; wife Katherine Herrera; sons Jimmy Herrera Jr., John (Christilla) Chavez and Joseph Herrera; daughters Melinda Herrera and Jessica (Jesus) Montalvo. Jimmy is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Jimmy Herrera Jr., Joseph Herrera, John Chavez, Jesus Montalvo, Josiah Montalvo, Ernesto Valadez; Honorary Pallbearer is Jaxon Montalvo.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 11th, 2022 from 5pm-8pm; Rosary at 6:30pm at Hughes Family Tribute Center 9700 Webb Chapel Rd.
Mass will be held on Thursday, May 12th, 2022 at 11am at St. Monica Catholic Church followed by a procession to a gravesite burial at Sparkman/ Hillcrest Memorial Park.
