Linda Dean Life Story

Beloved wife and mother, Linda Horton Dean passed away in Plano, Texas on May 25, 2022.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth “Tobe” Horton and Mary Von Tress Horton, her brother Kenneth W. Horton and her loving husband of 64 years, John Marvin Dean.  She is survived by her children, Deanna Dean, Devon (Mark) Johnson, John Trevor (Jeanne) Dean and Dorian (Bob) Woods; her sister, Judy Horton Allen.  She was the proud Grandmother to John Mark Johnson, Tyler and Ethan Dean, Trevor, Kealy and Tanner Woods and had numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Linda was born on November 5, 1939, in Dallas, Texas where she grew up.  She graduated from Crozier Tech High School and attended University of Texas at Arlington before marrying John M. Dean on July 25, 1958.  Throughout their 64 years of marriage, she was a devoted wife, a loving mother, a doting grandmother, and woman of faith with many talents and strengths.  Whether in Dallas, Texas or Estes Park, Colorado, she forged life-long friendships and created countless memories in a home with her wonderful cooking and abundant hospitality.  With a smile that would light up the room, she made everyone feel welcome.

Besides her love of family, the Lord, family vacations, and Estes Park, she LOVED FOOTBALL as well as most sports.  She could quote stats better than most men.  As a child, she loved to go to the Cotton Bowl with her dad and grandpa and watch some of the all-time greats play.  Her dad took her to see the Rocky Mountains when she was 10 years old, and she was hooked for life.

Mom came to know the Lord as her personal savior at a very young age at Exposition Park Presbyterian Church.  My parents raised us in a Christian home of which the doors were always open to friends, family and neighbors for food, laughter, and love.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
