Mihir Patel Life Story

Mihir Niranjan Patel, at 52 years old, died peacefully in his sleep on Friday, August 28, 2020 in Carrollton, TX, following a hard-fought battle with cancer. In his final moments, he was surrounded by all his loved ones.

He leaves behind his mother, Premila; his wife of 25 years, Bijal; his son, Yash; his daughter, Alisha; his sister Niyati; and his brother, Tejas. In addition, he leaves behind many beloved friends and family members who were by his side until the very end. Born and raised in Mumbai, India, the son of Niranjan and Premila Patel, Mihir immigrated to the United States at the age of 22 to earn a Master of Business Administration in Finance at the University of Saint Francis in Indiana.

After thriving in multiple executive positions at companies such as Verizon, NTT America, and Comdata, Mihir and Bijal decided that the best way for them to balance career with a successful family life was to start their own online company, allowing Mihir the flexibility to be at home for both his kids. He accompanied his son Yash, who he called his “Pride,” for 8 years to every Taekwondo practice and every nailbiting state, regional, and national competition. He stood applauding proudly when Yash was presented with his first-degree black belt from Korea. He made sure that his lovely and creative daughter, Alisha, who was his “Joy,” never missed a single art class for over 10 years. He has very proudly framed and displayed her beautiful paintings around their house. Despite his illness, it brought tears to Mihir’s eyes when he was told that Alisha would be attending Georgetown University this year. Always wishing he had studied engineering, Mihir was a Do-It-Yourself person, and there was not a single home appliance or electrical fixture that he could not fix or replace himself. His other goal in life was to make sure that members of his family were taken care of, and he was always available to provide solutions to any problem they faced. He was always in control, ensuring his family and friends felt safe and secure at all times.

Mihir loved to travel and he, Bijal, and the kids have visited numerous countries and checked off approximately 60 different “Wonders of the World.” Whether it was a quiet evening at home eating tacos and watching Survivor with his family, hosting dinner parties at home, camping and hiking with the other dads and their kids, playing poker with his buddies, passionately discussing his wine-tasting notes at our monthly wine-tasting club, enjoying single malt scotch or a cigar with his friends, or participating in games of Rook-My-Partner, Mihir was very happy when socially connected with the ones that he loved.

A loving man who sincerely put his family and friends before himself, Mihir will be missed by all. We love you, Mihir. Rest in Peace!
