On May 21, 2023, Pete E. Gonzales, a loving husband, devoted father, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully at his home in Dallas, Texas, at the age of 78. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories that will forever be treasured by those who were fortunate enough to know him.
Born on October 19, 1944, in Elgin, Texas, Pete was the beloved son of Felix and Benina Gonzales. From a young age, Pete exhibited a strong work ethic and a genuine passion for life. He approached every endeavor with enthusiasm and a positive attitude that endeared him to all who crossed his path.
Pete was a man of many passions, but none were as dear to him as his beloved wife, Felicitas Gonzales, whom he adored for 59 remarkable years. Their love story was one of unwavering commitment, loyalty, and companionship. Together, they weathered the storms of life, sharing both joyous and challenging moments. Their bond was an inspiration to all who knew them.
A true car enthusiast, Pete found solace and joy in working on cars and watching car restoration shows. He possessed an innate talent for fixing things, and his skillful hands brought new life to old vehicles. He would spend hours engrossed in his projects, fueled by a passion that never wavered.
Pete also had a fondness for westerns, often immersing himself in tales of the Wild West. He admired the values of honor, bravery, and resilience portrayed by the characters he encountered on-screen. It was through these stories that he found a connection to the past and a sense of adventure.
One of Pete's favorite pastimes was fishing at his niece's lake house. While others cast their lines in hopes of catching fish, Pete had a knack for reeling in something unexpected. His uncanny ability to catch turtles instead of fish never failed to bring laughter and amusement to those around him. His fishing trips became legendary family outings, filled with love, laughter, and stories to be cherished for generations.
A devoted family man, Pete delighted in hosting cookouts, fish frys, and various family get-togethers. His warm smile and welcoming spirit turned every occasion into a celebration. Whether it was sharing stories around the grill or engaging in friendly banter, Pete had a way of making everyone feel at home.
Among his many talents, Pete possessed a remarkable stroke of luck when it came to visiting the Winstar casino in Oklahoma. With a twinkle in his eye and a playful spirit, he would try his luck at the slot machines and, more often than not, come out victorious. His good fortune brought joy to his heart and added an element of excitement to his life.
Pete E. Gonzales will be deeply missed by his beloved wife, Felicitas Gonzales; his sons, Pete T. Gonzales and his wife Alicia; Fred Gonzales and his wife Diana; Jaime Gonzales and his wife Cristella; Jesse Gonzales and his wife Denise; his brother Louis Gonzales; his grandchildren, Pete III, Matthew, Brittney, Christopher, Melissa, Alexandra, Monica Andrew, Felicia, Adam, Brianna, Jonathan, Jesse Jr., Angelica, and Cecilia; as well as 15 great grandchildren, extended family, and countless friends. His presence in their lives brought immeasurable love, joy, and laughter. Though he may no longer walk beside us, his spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and his siblings, Andres Gonzales, Bessie Espinoza, and Esteban Gonzales.
