Rosalind Palasota

Rosalind Ramsey Palasota, born on February 6, 1949, in Temple, Texas, and peacefully departed from this world on September 14, 2023, surrounded by the love of her family. She was one of the daughters of Knox and Ila Faye Ramsey and grew up in the warm embrace of a happy childhood alongside her two sisters, Rosemary and Roxan, and brother Bill.
From a very young age, Roz's remarkable talent shone brightly. She was very talented and competed in roller-skating, reigning as the best in Texas for two consecutive years, earning her accolades in the "diaper division." She later skated in Pairs and excelled in this category as well. This early display of determination and skill was a foreshadowing of the incredible life she was destined to lead.
After graduating Temple High School, Rosalind pursued her passion for creativity by studying fashion design at The University of Texas. Her artistic flair and impeccable taste were evident in everything she touched.
She was a long-time member of the Junior League of Dallas. Volunteering with many committees her favorite being involved with the annual ball. She made and sewed Costumes one year and was the Co-Chair and Chair for their legendary fundraisers for 2 years. Roz also donated her time for several years with Weekend to Wipe Out Cancer and Cattle Barrons Ball as Committee chair and talent chair.
However, Roz's primary devotion in life was to her three beloved children; Jimmy III, Lydia, and Natalie with her then husband, Jimmy Jr. She was a devoted and active mother who never missed an opportunity to support her children at every event or activity, cheering them on with unwavering enthusiasm. Roz was a Young Life Leader from 1987-1991 through Pearce High School where she led her sons graduating class.
Roz also loved spending time with her sisters and brother. Over the years they had many shopping trips, trips to the beach and family events which Roz loved to plan and talk about. The annual Neiman's Christmas brunch was one of Roz's most favorite tradition.
Beyond her nurturing role, Rosalind possessed a culinary gift that was celebrated by all who knew her. She was renowned for her delectable Stuffed Peppers and could turn any meal into a cherished memory. Her favorite holiday was Thanksgiving, set in the embrace of her beloved season, Fall, where she poured her heart and soul into creating feasts for her loved ones. Christmas held a special place in her heart, as it was a time when everyone came home to celebrate together. Her Pumpkin cake roll was her signature Christmas morning tradition.
She founded "What's for Dessert?" with her sister, Roxan-a home-based dessert company. Their exceptional talent attracted a loyal following of clients who cherished her delicious creations.
Rosalind was also successful in the music business as an artist manager. Landing a record deal with RCA Records for the country music artist Liz Calendar.
Roz's keen sense of design and style led her into showroom management and Oklahoma rep for a prominent home goods company, Two's Company, where she continued to excel and inspire and worked until her diagnosis in June.
Roz enjoyed fine dining and finding new restaurants, avidly followed the Dallas Cowboys, hosted legendary tamale parties, and embarked on adventures to various tropical destinations. Her heart found solace on the beaches of Florida, in the vineyards of Sonoma, and amidst the waves of countless tropical islands. However, her most cherished destination was wherever her children resided, as being with them brought her the greatest joy.
Roz's life was a testament to love, talent, dedication, and the pursuit of happiness. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth, creativity, and unwavering devotion to her family. Her memory will forever be etched in the hearts of all those who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
Rosalind is survived by her children, Jimmy Palasota III and his wife Rebecca, Lydia Palasota and her fiancée Craig, and Natalie Palasota; her siblings Rosemary Ramsey and her husband Dave, Roxan McGill and her husband Fran, and Bill Ramsey; and many nieces, nephews and countless friends from across the country. In her passing, she joins her parents, Knox and Ila Faye Ramsey, in eternal peace.
A celebration of Roz's life will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2023 with visitation from noon to 2pm and a life celebration at 2pm, where family and friends will gather to honor and remember this remarkable woman. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to The Humane Society of Dallas County and the Genesis Women's Shelter.
Roz Palasota's light may have dimmed in this world, but her spirit will forever shine brightly in our hearts, reminding us of the beauty of a life well-lived and the power of a mother's love.
